Borderlands 2 has been thoroughly detailed by Game Informer magazine, and along with new characters, guns, and vehicles, Borderlands 2 will feature a dynamic storyline and of course, the lovable Claptrap will be back again.
Borderlands 2 will stick with the three-branched skill tree system, but other than that it seems like a lot of things are changing for the first person shooter's sequel.
According to the magazine, by way of Gematsu, the four characters from the first game will still be in Borderlands 2, but as non playable characters. We don't know too much about the four new characters yet, but we did get a glimpse of Salvador the "Gunzerker". He can dual-wield any weapon, and lets us in on what kind of unique characteristics we'll be able to play around with in Borderlands 2.
Along with new characters, we'll also be treated to entirely new weapons. Gearbox is starting fresh with the weapons in Borderlands 2 and scrapping all of the hundreds of original ones. Each gun manufacturer in the game will have their own personality in each of their wares, like unique styles, themes, and colors. Weapons will also get their own custom decals and enhancements this time around.
There will also be an new kind of element called Eridium. It won't do damage like the typical elements from Borderlands; instead, along with acting as a form of currency, it will enhance items like weapons and vehicles.
The story in Borderlands 2 is favoring the same kind of dynamic story that we're seeing pop up more and more in games today. The way it's described in Game Informer is that if a mission calls for you to rescue someone in a certain amount of time and you miss the mark, the story will continue and change based on your personal results.
The enemies this time around are going to be much more varied with greatly improved AI. Bandits will also have access to their own types of weapons.
Finally, we got a few details on Borderlands 2's multiplayer. The co-op will most likely be four player again, but it wasn't confirmed. There will also be new vehicles in the game, including a vehicle with four seats!
Overall, Borderlands 2 seems like it's going to be just as epic this time around as it was when we first played it. What do you think about the latest info from Borderlands 2?
Borderlands 2 is coming out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on March 31, 2012.
